This was passed at the MRA AGM last spring by the MRA This effects Petite level players. SRA is still trying to interprete the rules and the effect on our club for both first year Petites and second year Petites. Philosophy The Manitoba Ringette Association shall accept the philosophy that U12 (Petite) teams shall not be skill selected. In 2010/2011 season only second year U12 players will be allowed to be selected to an A team based on skill selection. Where numbers permit a Community Center/Town to form more than one U12 (Petite) team, those teams shall be balanced in strength. The U12 (Petite) teams shall be aligned in the appropriate A, B or C category. Local Associations shall be responsible for monitoring team formation. U12 (Petite) eligible players shall remain at their home Community Club/Town. If a Community Club/Town does not have sufficient U12 (Petite) eligible players to form a team, the players from that Community Club/Town shall, wherever possible, be transferred as a group to the nearest Community Club/Town requiring players. U12 (Petite) eligible players shall not be transferred to facilitate the formation of skill selected teams, except for second year U12 players for the 2010/2011 season. Implementation 1. The same process for seeding and creating U10 teams will be followed for all first year players. 2. Clubs and Towns will meet to compare their first and second year U12 players within their Association, and decide who will host a skill selected (i.e. tryouts) U12 A second year team. 3. Associations always have the option of not skill selecting their second year players, and follow the same process as first year U12’s and select the team combining first and second year players. 4. The first year U12 players will be selected for teams based on U12 process and then seeded in the correct category for the WRL. To be clear, it is possible for a first year U12 team to be seeded into the U12 A loop if the combined strength of players on that first year team would be appropriate for that loop. 5. The only exception to this selection process would be goaltenders. If necessary a first year U12 can be chosen for “skill selected” U12 second year U12 A team. |
